Batting a Thousand on Saturdays

We’re about to go 4-for-4, Seattle. You know, bat a thousand.

Why?

No rain is expected this coming Saturday, meaning that all four Saturdays in May will go down in the books as completely moisture-free. Think about that for a moment. Nary a drop in the rain bucket, on Saturdays, in May, in Seattle.

Seattle is batting a thousand when it comes to rain-free Saturdays in May. This Saturday will be no exception.

Clearly, it takes a special set of circumstances around here for us to get four dry Saturdays in a row—similar to why a ballplayer doesn’t go 4-for-4 very often. (Not that you should start appreciating Chone Figgins more or anything.) Case in point: light rain is in the forecast for Sunday morning, as a weak front crosses the area. If that front were to move through just a few hours earlier…

Thankfully, that won’t be the case. Saturday is a lock to be bone dry across the Seattle metro, with partly sunny skies and highs surging into the mid 60s. The same goes for tomorrow—Friday—only temperatures will be just a tad cooler.

After the rain moves through on Sunday, we’ll see clouds sticking around for the remainder of the day, with highs cooling off into the lower 60s. For Memorial Day, high temperatures will hover around 60 degrees, with more rain likely. While the holiday won’t be a washout by any means, the drippy skies will be a far cry from Saturday’s sunshine.

But hey, no complaining allowed. We can’t expect to bat a thousand on holidays too.
